Thermographic Line Inspection

Thursday, February 20, 2025

Hydro-Québec

Please be advised that Hydro-Québec will be carrying out thermographic inspections of some of its transmission lines during the week of February 24, 2025 (next week). This inspection will take place over a period of 3 to 4 days, depending on weather conditions.

A helicopter will fly over a portion of the high-voltage lines during the day, focusing on certain structural elements. These lines pass through our municipality.

Inspections will focus on high-voltage lines near Paugan, Wakefield and Quyon substations.

The purpose of the inspection is to identify and replace certain transmission line components which, over time, are more likely to cause service interruptions due to failure. The operation is in line with Priority 1 of Hydro-Québec's action plan to improve the quality and reliability of its network. Interesting fact: the power transmission network comprises over 115,000 km of lines!
